Privacy Policy

Effective May 20, 2026

The short version.

MTB HUD is a privacy-focused mountain biking ride tracker. Your data never leaves your device. There are no accounts, no third-party analytics, no advertising, and no data shared with anyone — including the developer.

What MTB HUD uses, and where it stays

Location

Location data is used only to record the GPS path of a ride. It's stored on your device using SwiftData and is never transmitted off your phone. iOS requires the app to ask for permission before accessing location; you can revoke that permission anytime in Settings.

Heart rate and health data

With your permission, MTB HUD reads heart rate samples from HealthKit during a ride. These samples are displayed live and saved alongside the ride. They stay on your device. MTB HUD does not send any health data anywhere.

Motion

Accelerometer and gyroscope data is read on-device to estimate lean angle while you ride. Raw motion samples themselves are not stored — only the maximum lean angle for the ride is saved.

Weather

After a ride ends, the app queries Apple's WeatherKit service with your ride's coordinates and timestamp to record conditions for that ride. Apple's standard WeatherKit privacy practices apply to that request. The returned weather data (temperature, condition, wind speed) is saved to the ride on your device.

What MTB HUD doesn't do

  • No accounts. No sign-in. No subscriptions.
  • No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
  • No advertising.
  • No data shared with any service, including the developer.

Your data, your control

You can export your full ride history as JSON from within the app at any time. You can delete individual rides from the history view. Deleting MTB HUD from your phone deletes everything the app stored.

Children

MTB HUD is not directed at children under 13.
